Cherryville trio bounces back after 1995 shut down of Carolina Freight
CHERRYVILLE - Almost four years ago, a trio of men rose from the ashes of Carolina Freight Corp. to form a new company poised for growth in 2000. Company officials say they will expand this year to offer a wider variety of services geared toward industries besides transportation, its initial focus. John Rudasill, Howard Roberts and Ron Sigmon started Phoenix Computer Services, Inc. at 400 E. Main St. in downtown Cherryville in 1996. Phoenix' cornerstone is the partners' six decades of combined service in transportation and management information systems (MIS) or data processing. At Carolina Freight, Rudasill was the president of Carrier Computer Services, the trucking corporation's wholly owned subsidiary responsible for data processing. Roberts was the senior director of operations, and Sigmon was the director of applications development.

More recently, Phoenix Corporate Services, Inc. has expanded its business to include a wide variety of computer services to non-transportation businesses, as well as individual computer users.
